No doubt, the Fritztrainer apps work best when used together with our ChessBase software. Nonetheless, some people either don't own ChessBase yet or they do not have a Windows PC, but a Mac. However, the Fritztrainer apps have several functions which you can use. If I keep buying ChessBase videos at the same rate that I have in the past, my Applications folder will soon be crammed with them. I don't know why they can't provide a single app, like ChessBase Reader, that works for all their Mac-compatible videos. ChessBase GmbH is a German company that makes and sells chess software, maintains a chess news site, and operates internet chess server for online chess. Founded in 1986, it maintains and sells massive databases, containing the moves of recorded chess games. Databases organise data from prior games; engines provide analyses of games while endgame tablebases offer perfect play in some endgames. ChessBase, Fritz & Co. Are programs for Windows but they do also run on Mac computers if you install Windows, which is nowadays easy to do using, for instance, Boot Camp, Parallels, or VMware Fusion. We compare these three alternatives and describe how you can use them to install ChessBase on your Mac.
