The quick answer was there is no such a thing:
Once again, there are NO, NONE FireWire to USB adapters.
Such adapters ADAPT the connection ends NOT the actual data transfer protocol!
However we know FW800 is faster than USB2.
So if I use an adapter from FW800 to USB3 the bottleneck is the FW800 port, correct?! So I should at least get the FW800 speed.
I'm on a mid 2010 MacBook Pro, which has USB2 and FW800 ports. My new portable drives are USB3.
USB3 to USB2 makes no sense, I get the slow USB2 speed. But with adapter like mentioned above I should at least get the FW800 speed, correct?!
Am I missing something here?

The Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter connects a Mac that has a Thunderbolt 3 port to a device that uses a Thunderbolt or Thunderbolt 2 cable.
